After experimenting with UI framework based development, EUROCONTROL decided to establish their own design system, as out-of-the-box components did not meet their needs.

UI Audit

In the progress of setting up EDS, I conducted a UI Audit of a reference application in order to:

Identify inconsistencies within the application itself
Understand front-end framework use.
Identify ad-hoc visual theming decisions and measure the use of default components versus custom ones
Identify components to add in the design system

After intensive screenshooting, I catalogued everything in a handy Airtable. Following the data entry I used sorting and pivoting to group components according to type and status. The process helped me to filter components ready to add in the design system
